Narrow your mowing bid list

  • Lot and yard size

Leave out lots too big for a push mower or too tight for your rider.

  • Lawn versus hardscape

A large lot with plenty of pavers or rock may have little grass to mow. Sort by how much is lawn when you build a mowing list.

  • Tree cover

Put tree-heavy yards on your fall cleanup list.

  • New owners

New owners may be looking for a mowing crew. Alerts flag them weekly (daily on Pro).

  • HOA neighborhoods

Check HOA streets for several yards your crew could mow on the same day.

  • Home value band

Pick the home value bands you want on your bid list.

  • Door hangers that got a response

On Growth and Pro, each door hanger and postcard has a QR code for that home. When an owner asks for a quote, you get an alert with the details they sent.

Add yards to an open mowing day

  1. Set your service area

Pick ZIP codes or draw the area your crew can cover with the trailer.

  2. Walk the street with the map

Every plan puts your leads on a phone map. Check each yard's lot and lawn size, tree cover and the owner's name, if listed.

  3. Leave hangers and check the replies

On Growth and Pro, export door hangers and postcards with a QR code for each home. Owners who scan get your quote page. Every plan exports a CSV for your CRM or scheduling app.

Add yards to the days you already mow

If you win several yards on one cul-de-sac, your crew may be able to unload once and walk the mowers between lots. Look for those streets on days you have room.

Growth and Pro rank leads by distance from your current customers. Check the addresses near an open mowing day. On Starter, sort the export by street and line it up with your schedule. On any plan, pull up the map on your phone and walk the street between yards.

Keep a note of which streets have room on each day. A yard near your Monday accounts doesn’t help much if Monday is full and Friday is your only opening. Put the open mowing day on your offer.

When to work the yard list

A home just sold. The new owner may be choosing a mowing crew. Knock before you fill the rest of your week.

Mowing season is starting. Knock in the neighborhoods you want to work before you fill your mowing days.

Leaves are coming down. Look for tree-heavy yards near your existing stops. Offer cleanup before the leaves pile up.

Get hangers out a few weeks before your first cut of the year. New-owner alerts arrive weekly on every plan (daily on Pro). Check for sales near the stops you’ll make that day.

Keep the mowing list separate from cleanup prospects. A tree-heavy lot may be worth a fall visit without being a good weekly mow. Ask new owners what work they need before you offer a standing contract.

Follow up on the yards that answered

On Growth and Pro, every door hanger and postcard in your export has a QR code for that one home. The owner scans it and lands on a quote page with your business name and logo.

When someone asks for a quote, you get an alert with the contact details they entered. Walk the yard that week if you can.

If an owner scans but doesn’t ask for a quote, you’ll see a suggestion to follow up. Knock when your crew is next on that street.

You can also see which street or week drew the most responses. Hang the next round there first.

Read the yard before you drive out

Each lead shows lot size, how much is lawn and how much tree cover it has. Use those details to shorten the list before loading the trailer.

Lot size alone can fool you. A half-acre lot with a pool, a long driveway and rock beds may have less grass than a quarter acre of turf. Sort by lawn share when you’re building a mowing list.

Big shade trees can mean thin turf, trimming around trunks and sticks to pick up before every cut. Price that time into the weekly rate, along with hauling clippings if the owner wants them bagged.

If the lots on an HOA street are close in size, time the first yard you win there before bidding the neighbors. Read the HOA’s written lawn standards too. Some set rules on edging or how often the grass gets cut.

What to check at the yard

Lawn share is not the area you’ll actually cut. A fenced yard or a steep bank can change which mower you bring. Check these at the property before you price the yard:

  • Gate width. Measure it against your mower deck. A backyard behind a narrow gate may mean the push mower and extra time.
  • Slope. Know which grades are too steep for your rider, and price the push-mower time.
  • Obstacles. Play sets, beds and fence lines all add string-trimmer time.
  • Sprinkler heads. Note heads that sit proud of the turf. Ask the owner about any that are already broken, so a cracked head isn’t pinned on you.
  • Trailer parking. Check where the trailer will sit. Some streets have no room at the curb, and some HOAs don’t allow it.
  • Soft ground. Low spots that stay wet after rain can rut under a rider.

The guide on how to get lawn care customers walks through pricing a yard by time on site, and the route density guide shows what a detour costs over a season. Plan limits by ZIP code and leads per month are on the pricing page.

Common questions

How do I get more lawn care customers?

Go after yards your crew can mow on streets you already serve. Start with Confirmed yards and new owners near an open mowing day. Leave a hanger where nobody answers. On Growth and Pro, you can revisit homes that scanned the hanger but didn't ask for a quote.

Why is a yard on my list?

It fits the yard details you picked, such as lot size, lawn share or tree cover. Confirmed means those details are clear: start here. Likely means check first when you drive past.

Is it for lawn care or full landscaping?

Both. A mowing crew can sort by lawn share. For cleanup work, check tree cover and recent moves.

How do I know which door hangers worked?

Growth and Pro show you. Each hanger gets a QR code for that home. Owners who scan land on your quote page, not a RouteLeads page. You see who asked for a quote and which street or week got replies. If someone scans without requesting a quote, you'll see a follow-up suggestion.

Can I pull leads for more than one service?

Yes, on Growth and Pro. Starter covers one service, Growth covers three and Pro has no limit. You can keep mowing and holiday lighting lists in the same account.

Are the leads exclusive to me?

No. Another crew may see the same yard. You pay a flat monthly price, not a fee per lead. Work the yards that fit within your plan's lead limit.

Do I get homeowner phone numbers or emails?

No. You reach owners with a knock or a card. On Growth and Pro, owners who want a quote scan the code on your hanger or postcard and send you their contact details themselves.

Do I need a card to start the trial?

No card needed. The trial runs 14 days on any plan.
