Know which pool homes to knock first

  • Confirmed or Likely pool

Confirmed means the pool is clearly there: start here. Likely means signs point to one: check first, then pitch weekly service.

  • New owners of pool homes

A buyer may be looking for a pool company. Put these addresses near the top of your knock list.

  • Pools added since your last list

Alerts come weekly (daily on Pro). Ask who handles startup care, then offer weekly service if the owner needs it.

  • Pool homes near your stops

On Growth and Pro, pool service leads are sorted by distance to the accounts you already clean. Start near an open route day, so you can add a stop without adding a long drive.

  • Lot size and home value band

Filter by lot size and home value band to pick which streets to knock first.

  • Door hangers that got a response

On Growth and Pro, each hanger and postcard has a QR code for that home. When an owner asks for a quote, you get an alert with the details they sent.

Add pool accounts on an open route day

  1. Pick the area you want to drive

Choose ZIP codes or draw only the streets you want on your route.

  2. Knock with the map on your phone

Every plan puts your pool service leads on a map for walking a street between stops. Each home shows why it fits. You also see the owner's name when it's listed.

  3. Leave a hanger and check the replies

On Growth and Pro, export a file for postcards and door hangers. Each piece has a QR code for one home. Owners who scan get your quote page. Every plan exports a CSV for your CRM.

Look for pool cleaning leads on an open route day

Start with pool service leads near a stop you already clean on a day with room. Walk the street with the map and tell owners when you’re there each week. If Tuesday is full, count the extra Thursday drive before you quote a pool near your Tuesday stops.

For that open day:

  1. Check pool homes near your stops and knock on new owners first.
  2. Leave a hanger where nobody answers. Name the day you service the street.
  3. Keep the addresses you didn’t reach for your next pass.

Growth and Pro rank leads by distance from accounts you already service. On Starter, sort the CSV by street and note where you have a stop. Use the route density guide to count the drive to a faraway pool.

Keep a separate knock list for each day with room. Before adding an account, check travel time for the day you can actually service it.

When to start knocking

If pools close for winter where you work, knock or mail before opening season. Offer an opening visit, then quote weekly care if the owner needs it. When you close a pool in fall, offer to quote next spring’s opening before you leave.

In a year-round market, check new-owner alerts when a route day has room (weekly on every plan, daily on Pro). Ask who’s looking after the pool now. For a newly added pool, ask who handles startup care before offering weekly service.

Go back to homes that responded

On Growth and Pro, each postcard or hanger in your mail export has a QR code for one home. Scanning opens a quote page with your business name and logo. A quote request gives you the contact details the owner entered. You can then reply.

A scan without a quote request doesn’t give you contact details. You’ll get a suggestion to follow up when you’re back on the street. Check which mailer or street got requests before paying for another print run.

What to look for on the walk-through

The list can help you choose a door, but it can’t show the equipment pad. Confirm a Likely pool before pitching. With the owner’s permission, walk the pool before setting a monthly price:

  • Filter type. Cartridges need pulling and hosing off. Sand and DE filters need backwashing, and DE needs fresh powder afterward. Build the cleaning interval into the price.
  • Pump and heater. Look for leaks at the unions and listen to the motor. Point out problems before your first week so a failing pump isn’t blamed on your service.
  • Salt or chlorine. A salt pool changes what you carry on the truck. The cell also needs descaling now and then.
  • Size and surface. A large pool or a pebble finish takes longer to brush.
  • Trees and enclosure. Overhanging trees mean fuller baskets and more skimming. A screen enclosure keeps most of that out.
  • Spa and water features. An attached spa or a waterfall adds time at each visit.
  • Access. Get the gate code or a key, and ask about dogs, before the first visit.

Quote green-water cleanup separately. In the weekly quote, spell out what chemicals and filter work are included, and confirm access before promising a service day.

Run the numbers on another account

Enter your price per visit, visits per customer per year and target number of new customers in the calculator below. It shows added revenue; subtract chemicals and driving yourself before you decide whether the work pays.

The guide on how to get pool cleaning clients covers monthly pricing and what to write on a hanger. If you’re considering buying a route instead of signing your own accounts, compare purchase and signup costs before committing to a seller. Plan ZIP codes and lead limits are on the pricing page.

Common questions

How does RouteLeads help me add pool accounts?

It lists pool homes near your stops and flags new owners and newly added pools. Knock at homes with a clear pool first; check the others before pitching. Leave a hanger when nobody answers. On Growth and Pro, you can sort the list by distance to your current stops.

What do Confirmed and Likely mean?

Confirmed: start here. The pool is clearly on the property. Likely: check first. Signs point to a pool, so make sure before you pitch weekly service.

How often do new pool leads come in?

Weekly on every plan, daily on Pro. Alerts flag new owners of pool homes and pools added since your last list.

How do I know which door hangers worked?

Growth and Pro show you. Each postcard and door hanger gets a QR code for that home. Owners who scan land on your quote page, not a RouteLeads page. You see which homes asked for a quote and which mailer or street got replies. If someone scans without asking for a quote, you'll see a suggestion to follow up.

Are the leads exclusive to me?

No. Another pool company may see the same address. You pay a flat monthly price, not a fee per lead. Work the homes that fit within your plan's lead limit.

Do I get homeowner phone numbers or emails?

No. You reach owners at the door or with a door hanger that has your name on it. On Growth and Pro, owners who want a quote scan the code and send you their contact details themselves.

Do I need a card to start the trial?

No card needed. The trial runs 14 days on any plan.
